The head coach of Kryvyi Rih Kryvbas Patrick van Leeuwen analyzed the past UPL season and also shared his plans for the future.
- Kryvbas stands out in the championship with its vertical and open style of play. Why do you believe in this approach? Was it an adaptation to the existing players or were there other reasons?
- I believe that if there is a line for a forward pass, then you should pass forward. I don’t play for the sake of possession. I want to move the ball forward as quickly as possible through controlled passes so that the team keeps it and minimizes the risk of losing it. But I prefer vertical football over horizontal. It creates open situations in the game, because we are constantly moving forward.
As a result, it became an attractive style of play, and Kryvbas is a team that is interesting to watch. In our matches, something was constantly happening, goals were scored and conceded in different situations. But it was always interesting to watch our game.
